Heinz Tomato Ketchup

Heinz Tomato Ketchup
Pen & Ink

This is the result of getting tired during work, and staring at the little Ketchup package on the desk. Done by regular cheap BIC pens. Enjoy!

Prayer in Tzfas

Prayer in Tzfas
Chalk Pastel, 11 x 8.5

I once had a friend of mine from Tzfas over at my house as a guest for Shabbos, on Sunday I took him to the Beis Hachayim in Monsey to be mispallel at Kivrei Tzadikim. After that I showed him in the rear of the Jewish cemetery a very old cemetery that dates back to the revolutionary war. He looks around and says "Wow! but in my neighborhood, we have Kevarim of tzadikim from 300 to over 2000 years ago". I got the message!.

The Beis Hachayim in Tzfas is known for the Kedusha of who is burried there, the likes of the holy Taana Reb Pinchas ben Yair, Chana and her seven sons, Ari Hakadosh, Beis Yosef and the Alkabetz, among many other giants who even after their deaths so many years ago, are all still alive by the Torah they left for us. May their names be a zechus for us.

This Pen & Ink art of Kever Rachel was just quickly scribbled with an ink pen, so while having fun scribbling away, I must also focus on getting the picture right. Enjoy!

Eyes from the Past

Eyes from the Past
Pen & Ink, 11 x 8.5

What has he seen in his lifetime, what does he remember?, if we can only know or have a tiny peek. It might be too much for our minds, we are too protected to be able to live his memories.

Yom Tov afternoon in the Sukkah

Yom Tov afternoon in the Sukkah
Miniature Model

I was always fascinated with scale miniatures, building stuff mainly for Sukkos or for school projects. Especially what I like most, is creating things on my own, instead of buying a miniature table, i'll build it myself.

Disputation

Disputation
Pen & Ink, 5 x 7

In my quest of trying many different art mediums and styles, I drew some pieces like those wood cuts that appeared in prints of the medieval times. Here's one depicting a disputation of a Christian clergy and a Jewish scholar. Note, the pointy hats "Judenhut" that Jews had to wear as a degrading dress code.

One of the most famous disputes occurred in 1240, which sadly resulted in the public burning of the Talmud in Paris, and another in 1263 with the Ramban.

Like Roses

Like Roses
Pencil, 8.5 x 11

These roses were just resting on the table and staring at me, with a begging whisper "please draw me, so I'll live longer". Roses are indeed very beautiful and mysterious, its stark colors and satin feel, perched atop thorny stems. No wonder that Am Yisrael are compared like roses "Keshoshana bein HaChochim" as says King Shlomo in Shir Hashirim.
