My Shtetl

My Shtetl - Washing Clothes
Charcoal 8x10

Washing clothes in the local river was not an easy task, that I can tell you. If not, they wouldn't have invented the Washing Machine.

My NY Memory Scene

My NY Memory - The Lower East Side
Charcoal 8x10

Every time I drive through the narrow streets of the Lower East Side, I can't help my self but think of the nostalgic Jewish past. The noise, high-pitched sale cries, full with poor and yet hopeful souls, the hanging clothes lines, the smell of pickles and pastries... beep beep... the car behind me would honk his horn, trying to wake me up from my day dream.

The Jewish past of the Lower East Side evokes in me some stir and emotion, which is hard to explain, since I was born much after those days. One of the most exciting objects and scenes for me to draw is anything of that era and place.
